We are pleased to announce that we have installed the first of our 10kW generators onto an Isuzu D-Max for road testing purposes. This generator represents a truly remarkable achievement in mobile power generation as it is the lightest, most compact 10kW generator the world has ever seen! It will be used as the power supply for our 7.5kW Charge Pod system which will provide flat or severely charge depleted electric vehicles with a roadside power boost so they can be driven to the nearest static charging station rather than being recovered with wheels off the ground and transported to a local charge point. This milestone means it will not be long before the 7.5kW Charge Pod system is ready for installation across our customers’ fleets!
Recent figures released by the SMMT and Frost & Sullivan have shown that in the next four years, a third of UK drivers intend to own a fully electric vehicle.
However, as the UK drives towards a zero-emission market, only a quarter of businesses feel they are prepared with the skills, equipment and training needed to keep up with these technical changes.
In order to help with this change in technology we have designed and developed the Charge Pod system, which helps fleet operators and roadside assistance companies across the world address the problem of EV drivers being unable to reach a static charging station because they are flat or severely charge depleted.
The Charge Pod system has been purposely designed so that it is as lightweight and compact as possible so that it can be installed on to standard patrol vehicles that are currently in service. Additionally, the Charge Pod system is incredibly easy to use, it simply needs to be switched on and plugged into the flat EV. These features mean that no specialist skills, training or additional EV assistance vehicle is required to provide this service.
For 35 years, the Motor Transport Awards have been seen as a benchmark for excellence among UK road transport fleet operators, vehicle manufacturers and other innovators.
The Motor Transport Awards are all about recognising excellence and while 2020 was a difficult year in many ways it is even more important to reflect the efforts and achievements of the people who made sure the UK was kept going through the crisis.
We entered our Charge Pod system into this award in partnership with the RAC because it is imperative that fleet operators dealing with electric vehicles are provided with the capability of delivering a power boost to flat or severely depleted EVs which are unable to reach a static charging station.
Now that use of EVs has dramatically increased, Charge Pod has proved itself to be an essential service to the RAC and has enabled the vital services of the country to be kept up and running in the challenging circumstances we have faced in the past year.
We are very much looking forward to the awards ceremony in September!
We are pleased to announce that we have signed an exclusivity deal with the RAC which means the RAC is the only breakdown assistance company in the UK supplied with our pioneering Charge Pod system.
“As a result of the exclusivity agreement the RAC plans to have 200 vans equipped to boost out-of-charge EVs by the end of 2021, with a further 120 coming online in 2022.”
It is incredibly exciting to be working in partnership with one of the UK’s most progressive motoring organisations and to have provided the company with a truly world leading solution which is not only absolutely fit for purpose, but it is, what we believe to be, the best solution on the global market to this problem.
We are also looking forward to seeing the Charge Pod system being implemented into other fleet operators across the country and the globe. We trust this exclusivity deal with the RAC displays that we are a capable company able to deliver, support and produce world-class products.
The Fleet News Awards offer an unparalleled awards evening that honours and recognises excellence across every part of the fleet sector. After entering the Charge Pod system into the Innovation in Mobility Technology Award, we are very excited to announce that Original ADS in partnership with the RAC have made it to the FINALS!
In this category, the judges will be looking for a technology which has helped customers overcome challenges and how this technology can be used to further enhance its benefits to business travel/transport. We believe our Charge Pod system meets this brief impeccably as it is the only practical solution for fleet operators to solve the problem of flat or severely charge depleted electric vehicles.
We’ve turned our thinking into a reality – We are #1 for Electric Car Breakdown – Paul Coward, Strategy and Insight Director, RAC.
Sales of full EVs and of PHEVs each tripled in October 2020 versus the same month in 2019. Combined, they’re now one in seven of all the new cars sold, very similar numbers to diesels. For some brands, these statistics are even higher.
Considering the growing number of electric vehicles on our roads, it is essential that roadside assistance companies are able to support the changing requirements of modern roadside assistance. The RAC have addressed this need by installing the Original ADS Charge Pod to their standard patrol vehicles that are currently in service.
Charge Pod enables the RAC to provide flat or severely depleted EVs with a roadside power boost so the vehicle can be driven to the nearest static charging point rather than being picked up and recovered on a flatbed truck.
The Charge Pod system is lightweight, compact and offers 100% duty cycle which means the RAC are not having to compromise on the service they deliver to traditional internal combustion engine vehicles and they are also able to provide this crucial support to EV drivers to alleviate range anxiety concerns. With this pioneering technology onboard, it is no wonder the RAC are #1!
