Christmas Day breakdown

Christmas Day breakdown

EV Boost Charger (Charge Pod) Saves Stranded Family of Tourists on Christmas Day in Dublin.

On Christmas Day in Dublin, a family of tourists were driving an EV Nissan LEAF where the charge of the car had become depleted to just 6% charge. Being totally unfamiliar with the surrounding area, the location of a static charging station was unknown to the driver, and with three young children as passengers onboard, range anxiety started to occur. The stranded family had no choice but to pull over and phone for assistance. To the family’s rescue was the driver of an Aviva Insurance patrol vehicle equipped with the EV boost charger, Charge Pod.

Charge Pod was able to swiftly get the family on their way after a quick and easy charge. The family were delighted that they were not going to be spending Christmas Day stranded or waiting for a flatbed recovery truck to transport the EV (and the 5 passengers) to a static charging station. Instead, they were able to continue their festivities promptly thanks to our simple but effective solution.

There’s no place like a charging station

There’s no place like a charging station

As EV usage has grown, the need for portable chargers for electric vehicles have become increasingly essential for roadside assistance companies. Here is yet another example of when an EV driver has run out of charge and has needed to call on breakdown assistance company RAC to deliver an emergency power boost to an electric vehicle using our pioneering Charge Pod system.

After purchasing a Tesla less than 24 hours ago, a lady became stranded at her own home as she was yet to install an EV charging station for home use.

With the vehicle low on charge, she was aware that she did not have enough range to reach her local charging station, so she phoned the RAC hoping that they would be able to solve this dilemma.

After a power boost from the portable electric charger, Charge Pod, the Tesla was given 8 miles of range, enabling her to reach the charging station with no hassle.

No Lead

No EV Charging Lead Leaves Nissan LEAF Driver Stranded At a Charging Station.

When driving through Harlow, in Essex, this Nissan EV LEAF owner became stranded at a static charging point because there was no EV charging lead. Although the driver had a charging lead in the car, it only had a 3-pin wall connector. The customer wanted the quickest possible solution to the problem.

The fastest and most efficient solution available was with the RAC, who were able to swiftly dispatch a patrol vehicle armed with the Charge Pod system. Due to the weather conditions, the EV took a little while to wake up (a Nissan manufacturing function) because the battery had become extremely flat, then after a quick charge the LEAF was provided with a 6-mile range which was ample to get the car heater on and allow the LEAF driver to promptly get to another static charging station.
