In association with Fully Charged the Big Lemon London to Brighton Electric Vehicle Rally event was held on Saturday 18th September 2021, to demonstrate and celebrate the rapid development of electric vehicles and renewable energy.
Starting on the banks of the River Thames and finishing on Brighton Beach, the electric vehicle rally was open to participants with electric vehicles of all types, shapes and sizes, with prizes for the lowest energy consumption in all classes.
The 60-strong entries included celebrities Norman Cook (Fat Boy Slim), Charley Boorman, Mark Lester and Robert Llewellyn, covering the 58-mile distance.
The RAC were the roadside assistance partner for the Rally and were following the event in standard patrol vehicles equipped with the Original ADS Charge Pod system so that RAC patrols could deliver a roadside power boost to quickly get any flat or severely charge depleted EVs to the nearest static charging station had they ran out of charge during the event.
Charge Pod proved to be the perfect solution for this problem because the system can be installed on standard patrol vehicles whilst only taking up a very small amount of room. This means the RAC patrol vehicles can still be packed with all the other equipment needed to be able to fix any other motoring issues these EVs may have encountered.
